In a highly anticipated release, the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) results for 2023 were announced today, unveiling a positive trajectory in academic achievements. The overall pass rate demonstrated a commendable increase of 8 percent compared to the previous year, with a notable improvement in performance across various subjects.

The 8-4-4 system has been abandoned as it has been Kenya's system of education for 38 years.KCPE 2023 has marked the end of 8-4-4 cohort in Kenya as the country is now embracing a new curriculum the competency based curriculum (CBC).In the year 2023 over 1.4 million students took the Kenya certificate of primary Education (KCPE) exams across 28,000 centers.

Mathematics emerged as a standout subject, witnessing a remarkable of 15 percent surge in the number of candidates scoring above the coveted 80 percent mark. This encouraging trend reflects a focused effort in enhancing mathematical literacy among primary school students.English language performance also exhibited notable growth, with a 10 percent increase in students achieving proficiency levels. The emphasis on language skills development is evident in the results, indicating a positive impact of educational initiatives.

Education stakeholders laud these results, emphasizing the importance of sustained efforts in curriculum enhancement and teacher training. As the nation celebrates these achievements, education officers and policy makers alike are urged to analyse the data further to identify areas for continued improvement in the education sector.

The bar graph below reflects a 7 Percent growth in candidates achieving high marks . Overall the graph portrays an upward trajectory in performance across all subjects signifying a positive shift in academic achievements among KCPE candidates in 2023.

Cabinet secretary, Ezekiel Machogu says ,"All students will receive calling letters to join various secondary schools according to their scores,He also planned another KNEC exam to be done in early January 2024 for those who did not say for their KCPE for the year 2023,"He said.
